Cotton Fact #2: This illustration is from the 1350 book, The Travels of Sir John Mandeville. It may have been an explanation of cotton – that fiber unknown to Europeans only through trade, who had no notion of how it was produced from a plant. Since cotton is white and fluffy, similar to wool, it’s easy to see where the sheep-plant idea arose! We know better! http://ow.ly/i/2nJLo http://ow.ly/i/2nJOh
